Pray for your enemies,

Welcome the stranger,

Show love to a neighbor.

Perhaps the picture of what we are called to do as followers of Christ doesn't have to overwhelm you. If you are a big picture person, the state of how we are living in the world right now and how we move forward embodying love can overwhelm every part of your spirit, your thinking, and perhaps even your faith.

While it will grab at the edges of you...maybe even tearing away larger pieces on any given day....the overwhelming sense of the work and pain and suffering around us and in us can find peace. Peace in the midst of suffering.

Im not talking about a way to find happiness. I'm talking about a way to know peace. To hold comfort. To live in the midst of all that we are. Grab hold of Christ. And the promise that you are God's beloved.

A voice cries out: Clear a path through the wilderness for Yahweh! Make a straight road through the desert for our God! - Isaiah 40:3

The cleared path means it is open in BOTH directions. We get to go to God...go WITH God. And God comes to us ... being WITH us. In the Christ whose coming we are assured of and know will come again.

You don't have to be at the head of the class, the top of the list. Or leading a movement beloveds. The path is open in both directions. And we can continue to keep it that way in the journey of loving one another because we are people beloved. Shalom.
