"We dont value ignorance enough." I often find that while contemplating, praying through, and writing sermons, my life often seems to work through what I write.

This morning an article about Alan Alda caught my eye in an AARP magazine sitting on the table. In it he talks about the importance of communication....and science as a topic of connection. There are "pockets" of people who who dont get the very real and necessary importance of science. They think it's "just another opinion".

It turns out that I'm preaching about that very thing this morning. I begin by talking about my struggle understanding why people do what they do and later recognize through our gospel this morning that God's power is hidden from those the world claims to be wise; those who claim for themselves to have it all together. And the jeopardy question is ... What happens when we dont value our own ignorance?
